COMMUNITY SERVICE COMMITTEES

Bloodmobile:
Committee members participate at the Red Cross Blood Drive held in the spring by greeting donors as they arrive, and serving refreshements afterwards. Committee members are given the choice to assist with calls, bake refreshments or volunteer at the drive.
Ogden House:
The Ogden House committee consists of hostesses and a kitchen crew. Four hostesses serve the weekly senior luncheons every Wednesday from September to June. The ladies greet, serve and clear dishes for the 75+ seniors who attend these luncheons. Additionally, on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, the kitchen committee shops for, prepares, serves and cleans up after the luncheon served that day. Contact: Julie Fingeret or Liz Haynes
Senior Bingo
Committee runs bingo three times during the year. Contact: Colleen Boepple, Michelle Fechter
FISH (Feel I Should Help):
Committee members provide transportation for area Seniors for doctor/therapy appointments. Committee members are assigned one or more days a month to be available to seniors requiring transporation, or to sign up as a substitute driver. Contact: Dorie Davatzes
FLU Clinics:
Committee members participate at the three annual flu clinics held in October/November by assisting with patient registration and after inoculation care. Clinics inoculate 800-1000 people per year. Contact: Ximena Holzer
DINNERS:
Committee members shop for and prepare Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for area elderly shut-ins who would otherwise not have a festive season. Meals are prepared at member homes and then assembled at Ogden house and the Girl Scouts deliver them.

SENIOR CRAFTS:
A group of seniors meet to help others through their sewing, knitting, crocheting, and crafting skills. They make scarfs, mittens and hats for PROJECT HEAD START; Yo-Yo dolls and Lap robes go to SOCIAL SERVICES; they quilt baby quilts that go to BABIES WITH SPECIAL NEEDS; and sew bibs that go to STAR and SOUTHBURY TRAINING SCHOOL.
The following items are needed and are appreciated all the time: These items are needed year round:
YARN--acrylic only as items are machine washed (NO WOOL YARN PLEASE)
SHEETS-FITTED OR FLAT--50/50 poly/cotton or 100%cotton. Colored, design, and white sheets are all useable.
FABRIC- 50/50 poly/cotton or 100% cotton (No knits,denim, silks, etc) Large and small pieces are used.
