Tauck European River Cruise

This seven night Rhine River Cruise for two sails from Basel to Amsterdam, or the reverse, your choice.  Starting in Switzerland, you will wake up surrounded by mountain scenery and shimmering Lake Lucerne.  The day starts with a relaxing excursion to Lucerne, a 'city of lights' filled with cobblestone lanes and picturesque town squares. From there, you will have the option to take the world's steepest cogwheel train to the top of Mt. Pilatus, 7000 feet in the sky. As you travel up at a 48 degree incline, all around you you will see Alpine meadows, streams, goats, and flowers.  You may be called Heidi if you wish.

Alternatively, you may choose a lunch and wine tasting along the Alsatian wine route, starting in the Chateau Haut-Koenigsbourg, built in the 13th century. Your next stop is Basel, where France, Germany and Switzerland meet.  You will be taken on a tour of this genteel city, filled with parks, museums, art galleries and restaurants.  Walk the Rhine Promenade, and stop into a cafe with views of the city skyline.

The second day of the trip starts in Alsace, France, with a tour of the canals, cathedrals and beer pubs of Strasbourg. Later in the day, visit the famous spas of Baden-Baden, on the edge of the Black Forest.

Other highlights of the trip include bicycle riding if you choose, on easy riverside trails through forest, meadows, and Rhineland vineyards, dinner in a  moated castle from the 14th century, and a guided tour of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, home to works by Rembrandt and many Dutch masters. All these details and more can be found at www.tauck.com.

Tauck is a highly regarded tour company for riverboat cruises; be assured that this luxurious way to see Europe is like nothing you have experienced before. Airfare is not included in this item.  Trip is for a Category 1 cabin; upgrades at expense of winner may be available.  The trip must be taken before December 31, 2017.  This item includes meals, lodging, unlimited beverages including regional wines, beers, premium spirits, coffee, water and soft drinks, gratuities, airport transfers, and private Tauck shore excursions.

The price for this cruise is over $9000, but the starting bid at our Silent Auction is only $5000!  What a wonderful value this is for a once in a lifetime European experience, and your bid will be supporting the beautiful Wilton section of the Norwalk River Valley Trail at the same time.

Trip for Two to Curacao

From Rachelle Lucas at The Travel Bite: "At first glance, you might think the multi-chromatic painted town of Willemstad is a fabricated tourist attraction.  It’s not.  It’s genuine.  Years of history and Dutch influence mixed with Caribbean flair have produced a vibrantly colorful port that is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Curacao’s economy actually doesn’t rely on tourism, so you’re going to get more of an authentic island experience.  Befriend a local and you’ll even find hidden treasures such as a delicious restaurant that’s only open one day a week and creative sculptures handmade and painted on the island."  And TripAdvisor describes the beaches of sugar-fine sand and water with glass-like visibility. Bid on this four-night trip for two, with lodging from the Santa Barbara Beach and Golf Resort and airfare from JetBlue.

Dorel Industries, Cannondale Bicycles

As James Fraser said in The Mountain Bike Life, "Getting out on the trails is like being a little kid in a sandbox, only I can get dirtier. No one can tell me what to do! I can go wherever I want, however fast I want, using whichever route I want! I am fortunate enough to live in an area with an exceptional network of trails combined with an exceptional network of people to build and maintain them, so I quite frequently have new trails to explore and different directions to ride. The map that I have is rarely used – and even then, it’s four years old – so more often than not I wind up about as close to “lost in the wilderness” as one can get these days. There’s also a very primal feeling that comes from riding. When I’m out there, I get a very distinct feeling of “man versus nature.""  Use this chance to bid on a Cannondale Catalyst 3 Mountain Bike, as well as bicycle clothing and accessories from Dorel Sports!
